Silk has always been the creme’ de la creme’ of fabrics. Shantung silk is one of the most elegant types of silk you can find nowadays. Viola Milano offers a wide range of Shantung ties. Shantung is a type of silk which originates from the Chinese province of Shandong. Shantung is somewhat similar to Dupioni silk but a bit thinner and less irregular. Almost all of the Viola Milano shantung ties are woven in a grenadine weave. This type of weave is very open and creates an almost gauze-like structure. The ties are woven on a jacquard loom, a loom which dates back as far as the year 1800! These ties are craftsmanship at its finest.
